Monthly Moment featuring: Ryan

Meet Ryan. Being born and partially raised in Norfolk, Virginia, his strong familial San Francisco roots beckoned him back to the Bay area in a very strong personal and professional sense. This strong energetic pull drives his dedication and motivation in his community advocacy, organizing, and food justice work. This is especially critical with the food deserts strewn throughout the City needing fresh food options and access. The featured photos display some of his efforts. He is rooted as a protector, using resistance to create action, and a coalition builder. Check out #healthytl and the Tenderloin Healthy Corner Store Coalition for more information and to keep up with his amazing work.

1) Where do you find your Moments of Positivity?

I find my moment by cultivating communities to fight against systems of oppression. Power structures manipulate society to be consumed by self-centered materialism that divides us from each other. We must flip the system on its head by establishing a collective consciousness guided by actions of light and unity. 2) How do you Claim your Moment?

Individually, being intentional about capturing moments of positivity, I claim my moment by channeling negative emotions into motivation for creating positive changes in the world. It is easy to let negativity consume you, but the light shines brightest through the darkness. True warriors fight for love, peace, and justice.
